AXYZ Vision System Improves Digital Print Cutting

The Sign and Graphics industry is advancing rapidly. According to the International Sign Association’s 2019 State of the Industry Report, this relates to an increase from nearly US$8.4 billion in 2017 to nearly US$10.6 billion in 2023.  Wouldn’t you love a piece of that? It’s possible. If you already added a UV printer to your inventory, then you’re headed in the right direction.  But what about those edges? If you’re still fiddling around with your material, running back and forth from one end of the machine to the other just to make sure your printed images are lining up properly, then you may need some extra help. Time to consider the AXYZ Vision System, a high performing, low cost option that’s going to make your life easier. With a simple camera mounted on the head of the machine and the use of registration marks, your printed images will align evenly along the cutting path without any extra effort from you.  This saves time, money, frustration and helps you achieve a level of detail you never thought possible – an important factor that gives you a competitive edge in a booming industry.

MORE OPTIONS HIGHER QUALITY

The AVS is compatible with a variety of cutting tools such as routers, oscillating knives, tangential knives and even vinyl drag knife tools.  This makes it easy to cut virtually any printed material including card, vinyl, rubber, foam, aluminium, wood, acrylic and lots more, opening up many new markets and opportunities for business expansion.

Using the AVS is very easy – you just have to include registration marks in your print file and then on the machine.  The camera will use these to adjust the program to cut in exactly the right place.

DOUBLE-SIDED CUTTING

Did you know you can set up the AVS system to perform two-sided cutting? Through the use of registration marks, correctly using the software and applying a fixed datum position, you can flip the material over and cut on the backside easily and efficiently.  For specific instructions, read our previous blog, Using AVS for Double-Sided Cutting.

LOWER COSTS HIGHER OUTPUT

We take our commitment to providing you with the best that CNC machines have to offer very seriously.  Aligned with our renewed focus in manufacturing automation and recent rebranding, we’re keeping the AVS as affordable as possible.  We hope this makes you want to take advantage of the supreme flexibility you’ll find with an AXYZ machine, and ultimately benefit from reduced waste, increased accuracy and higher output.

Existing AXYZ machine users will be pleased to hear that the AVS can be easily retro-fitted to older machines. The cost for retro-fitting depends on the age and configuration of the machine.

VIDEOS

The AVS is compatible with all AXYZ machines. In this video, you’ll see how the Trident uses the AVS to cut through ACM.  It also integrates nicely with a variety of our knife and routing tools. Here’s a clip of the AVS system cutting 3mm Forex with a knife and 4mm ACM with a router.
