Leading supplier of high-performance CNC routing, engraving and cutting solutions, AXYZ has recently developed a new helical rack and pinion drive system which is available as an option on all AXYZ Series machines.
These are designed to provide superior high speed performance and will deliver greater accuracy, smoother cutting and quieter running. They will also allow higher acceleration and feed rates to be used where appropriate, subject to the machine specification and local safety regulations.
The detail design of these drives ensures that at all times there are multiple gear teeth engaged rather than just the one as is the case on a conventional rack and pinion system. This means that wear is greatly reduced and the life of the system is increased as a result of distributing the load over several gear teeth.
When specified as an option on an AXYZ Series machine the helical pinions would normally be driven by a high performance servo motor through a precision planetary gearbox. The result is a very rigid and powerful drive system with virtually zero backlash and suitable for use in all high precision and demanding applications.
