Good Times for Signs of the Times

Signs of the Times based in Victoria, BC., have been designing and manufacturing award winning signs and displays for over 20 years. Specializing in environmental and architectural graphics they can supply anything from an individual sign, full color digital prints and vehicle wraps to entire wayfinding systems. Their signage and display products are seen in large facilities like hospitals, airports, universities and government buildings and their ever growing client list includes corporations such as BC Ferries and Microsoft.

A few years ago Dan Hansen, President of Signs of the Times decided that in order to keep full control of production scheduling and maintain a competitive edge over the competition it was time to invest in a CNC router for cutting out the many complex letters & backgrounds that today’s customer demands. He approached AXYZ, who offer the widest range of machine sizes and configurations in the industry. Designed and built in Canada and with a track record of satisfied customers and friendly, knowledgeable staff, Dan decided to arrange a demonstration. It soon became obvious this was what was needed to move the business forward and he decided to order a 4008 Series CNC Router complete with auto tool changer and vacuum hold down.

The AXYZ 4008 has a processing area of 96” (length) x 60” (width) and is well suited for a range of industry applications. It is now supplied as standard with the latest A2MC machine controller that is said to offer the highest possible control capabilities by comparison with any similarly positioned system. It delivers much faster and smoother motion based on S-Curve (Seven Segment Velocity) trajectories, leading to a significant reduction in ‘bounce’ and vibration caused by sudden acceleration or deceleration that is often found with other control systems. The controller is also fully NC code-compatible and will therefore work with all popular CAD/CAM packages.

Dan commented: “We have a competitor of ours who bought another make of machine. He told us that he could not get service or parts and asked what we thought of our AXYZ router. We told him that we have not had any problems what so ever with this machine and we were totally happy with our purchase.”
